Four of the five Centre Region townships had contested elections on Tuesday for supervisor and council positions.
In one of the region’s most hotly contested races, Democratic candidates pulled into the lead for three Ferguson Township supervisor positions up for election by late Tuesday night.
Elsewhere, two incumbents were trailing in their bids for re-election in College and Halfmoon townships, though both races remain close. Republican incumbent Anthony Fragola was in third in the race for two College Township council seats, 374 votes out of second place. Democrat Danelle Del Corso was 119 votes behind Republican challenger Ronald Servello for Halfmoon Township supervisor.
All Centre County precincts were partially reporting as of the last update from the Elections Office at 11 p.m. About 8,700 countywide mail-in ballots received by Election Day were included in the results on Tuesday night, according to Centre County Board of Commissioners Chair Michael Pipe. Remaining mail ballots received by 8 p.m. Tuesday will be counted on Wednesday.
