College GameDay is coming back to Penn State.
ESPN announced Saturday night that its flagship college football morning show will air live from Happy Valley next weekend ahead of the No. 11 Nittany Lions’ clash with No. 25 Auburn. The game also doubles as Beaver Stadium’s White Out, and we know the GameDay crew can’t get enough of that.
This is now the fifth straight year College GameDay comes to Penn State. The GameDay crew famously returned to Happy Valley for the first time in eight years ahead of the 2017 White Out and returned for the 2018 and 2019 White Outs, too. And although fans weren’t there in 2020 for the White Out matchup with Ohio State, the GameDay crew was.
Next weekend will be Penn State’s 10th time hosting the show and 23rd overall time playing in a game that served as the show’s featured site.
Right now, it’s unclear where exactly the crew will set up shop. College GameDay took over Old Main Lawn in 2017 and 2018, moved to the HUB Lawn in 2019, and ventured into Beaver Stadium in a fan-less 2020 appearance.
The pregame show will begin at 9 a.m. and air until noon. GameDay always culminates with Lee Corso making his pick for the featured game by whipping out the headgear of who he thinks will win, and he’s picked Penn State during each of the crew’s last three visits.
Last year, the GameDay crew saw then-No. 18 Penn State got clobbered by No. 3 Ohio State in a 38-25 loss. Jahan Doston’s incredible 144-yard, three-touchdown performance wasn’t enough to keep the Nittany Lions afloat during a spooky Halloween haunt.
Penn State football (2-0) will kick off against Auburn (2-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
