Penn State Basketball: Brockington Reenters Transfer Portal Per Report

According to a report by 247Sports Thursday morning, Penn State men’s basketball star Izaiah Brockington has reentered the portal. The junior guard previously announced in March that he’d return to Happy Valley to play for Micah Shrewsberry. He was the first of the then six Nittany Lions in the transfer portal to announce his intentions to return or transfer from Penn State.

Brockington’s earlier decision to play for Shrewsberry was a big one, especially considering he averaged 12.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season. The St. Bonaventure transfer started in all but one of Penn State’s games this year, and averaged 8.1 points in the season prior.

Seth Lundy and John Harrar were the other Nittany Lions who elected to remove their names from the portal. Lundy’s decision was made public last week, while Harrar announced he’d stay at Penn State on Wednesday. 

If Brockington is in fact in the portal, he remains the only player with his future up in the air for next season. Harrar and Lundy are back, but Myreon Jones (Florida), Jamari Wheeler (Ohio State), and Trent Buttrick (UMass) are all headed elsewhere via the transfer portal. 

Brockington has not yet confirmed his decision to reenter the portal, but we’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.
