Future Penn State quarterback Drew Allar will throw the ball this week with some of the best quarterback prospects in the nation as the Elite 11 Finals get underway Wednesday evening.

Allar, who has seen his stock rise greatly over the past year all the way up to the 11th best quarterback in the 2022 class according to the 247 Network, will look to make a name for himself amongst some high-profile players. Allar joins the nation’s top prospect in Quinn Ewers (Ohio State) Walker Howard (LSU) and Ty Simpson (Alabama) among the 20 quarterbacks competing at the event.

Three other Big Ten schools (Michigan State, Rutgers and Maryland) are represented at this year’s event.

Allar is the first Penn State quarterback to compete in the Elite 11 Finals since Sean Clifford did during the 2016 iteration of the event. Previously Christian Hackenberg, Pat Devlin, Rob Bolden and Anthony Morelli all competed at the final over the years.

Allar is currently rated the 138th best prospect in the 2022 class, rising all the way from No. 517 last August. A good showing in a post-pandemic world, where Allar has been able to do more work in person – including the upcoming event – has in turn seen his stock rise significantly over the past few months.

The event beings Wednesday night and runs until July 3rd taking place in Los Angeles. According to the event’s website, 12 of the past 13 Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks have attended the Elite 11 Finals or an Elite 11 Regional.

All things being equal Allar is set to enroll next offseason, although in theory returning third-year starter Sean Clifford would have one remaining year of eligibility if he were to decide to return following the conclusion of the 2021 campaign. Beau Pribula joins Allar as the other quarterback commitment in Penn State’s 2022 class which is rated the 8th best in the nation by the 247 Network.
