Penn State football picked up another verbal commitment for its 2023 class on Sunday, flipping tight end prospect Andrew Rappleyea – who was previously verbally committed to Michigan.
“Michigan is a great place with great people but the reality it, I committed too quickly and take full responsibility for that,” Rappleyea wrote on Twitter.
“I have come to realize that m heart is at Penn State. I have developed a strong relationship with that coaching staff dating back to my first visit last September. I’m excited about matriculating at Penn State and playing football four hours from my home. I am completely and fully committed to Penn State. My recruitment is closed.”
Rappleyea is rated a three-star prospect by the 247 Network and the 247 Network composite rankings and hails from Milton, Massachusetts. Rappleyea hits the scales at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds and aside from Michigan had offers and interest from Boston College, Colorado and Connecticut.
Penn State’s 2023 class is now eight players deep which is rated best in the Big Ten and No. 5 in the nation very early in the cycle. The group is headlined by offensive line prospect Alex Birchmeier who is rated a five-star prospect and the No. 34 prospect in the nation.
