Penn State has been awarded bids to host multiple PIAA spring championships over the course of a single weekend each year from 2023 through 2026.

The PIAA Spring Sport Championships Festival will include boys’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, baseball and softball championships each June.

“We are thrilled to be the home of the PIAA Spring Sport Championships Festival for the next four years,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft said in a statement. “Every year, we are honored to host various PIAA Championships allowing high school student-athletes the experience of competing at high-level collegiate facilities. We want to thank the Happy Valley Sports and Entertainment Alliance for their support of our bid to bring these events to our community.”

Boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, which this year were held in West Chester, are the newest additions to high school championships being hosted at the University Park campus. Baseball and softball championships have been played at Penn State for the last 11 years and boys’ volleyball since 2005.

As in the past, baseball championships will be played at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park; softball will be at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field; and boys’ volleyball will be at Rec Hall.

The lacrosse championships will be held at Panzer Stadium.

“The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau welcomed the collaboration with Penn State to secure a multi-year commitment to bring these championships – including the lacrosse championships for the first time – to Happy Valley,” HVAB President and CEO Fritz Smith said. “Creating a memorable PIAA Spring Sport Championship Festival while showcasing some of the state’s finest high school student athletes will be one of the first orders of business of the Happy Valley Sports & Entertainment Alliance, itself a collaborative effort with the university and other partners. We look forward to this exciting opportunity.”

Tennis and track and field are the only PIAA spring sport championships not scheduled to be held at Penn State.

The 2023 spring championships festival will be held Thursday, June 15-Saturday, June 17. The 2024 spring championships festival will be held Thursday, June 13-Saturday, June 15. The 2025 spring championships festival will be held Thursday, June 12-Saturday, June 14. The 2025 spring championships festival will be held Thursday, June 11-Saturday, June 13.
