Penn State Women’s Basketball Game Against Iowa Postponed Due to Positive COVID-19 Results

Penn State women’s basketball’s game against Iowa scheduled for Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Center has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 test results within the Lady Lion program.

In accordance with Big Ten and Penn State Athletics protocols, individuals with a positive test are in isolation and contact tracing procedures have been implemented, according to an athletic department statement on Monday.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance,” the statement said.

Whether the game will be rescheduled is still to be determined. Big Ten officials said last week they are in the process of evaluating the conference’s 2021-22 forfeiture policy related to COVID-19 cancelations and a decision is expected in the coming days.

Ticket holders for the Penn State-Iowa game will be notified once a decision on the Big Ten policy has been made.

It’s the second Lady Lion game this month to be impacted by COVID-19 positives. The Dec. 22 home game against Towson was canceled because of COVID positives in the Tiger program.

Penn State is next scheduled to take the court on Jan. 3 at Ohio State.
