With just a few weeks left of the regular season remaining, the high school soccer season is winding down in Centre County.
The Lady Eagles of Bald Eagle expanded their record to 14-0-1, capturing their first ever Mountain League title in program history. With a conference record of 10-0-1, the Lady Eagles have yet to be defeated.
Zoey McHenry and Falen McHenry scored for the Lady Eagles in the team’s 2-0 home victory against Huntingdon on Oct.1.
The Lady Eagles followed the win with a narrow 2-1 victory on the road against Clearfield on Oct.3. Falen McHenry and Emily Shiels accounted for the two BEA goals.
Addison Proctor scored twice in Bald Eagle’s 3-0 shutout win against the Wildcats of Central Mountain two days later. Shiels knocked the other goal in for Bald Eagle.
To secure the conference title, Bald Eagle Area shutout Central 4-1 on Oct. 7. Falen McHenry scored twice for the Lady Eagles, and Proctor and Allison Cowan both added one.
The Lady Eagles will look to pickup more momentum heading into the post season, as they travel to Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 15 for the team’s next contest. The two schools met previously this season and BEA won convincingly 8-0.
BELLEFONTE
The Lady Red Raiders got revenge on Penns Valley in a conference matchup on Oct.1. Haley Popovitch scored the match’s lone goal as Bellefonte won 1-0. The two met earlier this season, with the Lady Rams winning 6-1.
Just a day later, Malorie Smith, who surpassed the 100-career goal mark earlier this season, tallied four goals in the Lady Raiders’ 5-4 double-overtime victory against Central.
Aside from Smith, Maddison Hubbs scored the other goal for Bellefonte.
After the victory over Central, the Lady Red Raiders fell 4-2 at home to Tyrone, looking ahead on the Lady Raiders schedule is a road match against Clearfield on Oct. 15.
For the Bellefonte boys’ soccer program, the Raiders snagged a 4-2 win at home against Central. The boys’ team will travel to Huntingdon on Oct. 15.
PENNS VALLEY
Rams head coach Ken Gore classified Penns Valley’s 4-3 road victory over Tyrone as “the most important win of the season,” he said.
Four different Rams scored in the victory — Zach Heckman, Nate Long, Connor Martz and Aiden Culver. The Rams now sit at 6-6 on the season.
Up next for the Rams is an away match at Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct.10. This will be the two school’s second meeting this season. Penns Valley won the first 2-1.
Hannah Montminy netted three goals and had two assists in the Lady Rams’ 5-4 overtime win against the Lady Golden Eagles. Anna Korman and Nikki Denger scored the for the two Penns Valley goals in the victory.
The Lady Rams’ will travel to Mifflinburg on Oct. 12.
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA, ST. JOE’S
The Mounties of Philipsburg-Osceola went on the road to defeat St. Joe’s in Boalsburg, 5-1, on Oct. 7. Next up for PO is a home match against Penns Valley on Thursday, Oct. 10.
The Lady Mounties are still searching for the team’s first win of the season after losses to Huntingdon and Clearfield. P-O fell 9-0 to Huntingdon on Oct.3 and 4-0 to Clearfield on Oct. 7.
P-O will try to earn its first win of the season as the Lady Mounties visit Moshannon Valley on Oct. 12.
Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams at St. Joe’s took down Northern Cambria on Oct. 1. Both teams won 4-0.
In the school’s next double-header on Oct. 5, with both the boys’ and girls’ team playing against Karns City, the boys’ team fell 4-0 and girls lost 11-0.
Looking ahead on the schedule for the Wolves’ soccer program, the boys team takes its 4-11 record into a home match against Bald Eagle Area on Oct. 12. The girls’ team, who is 6-9 on the season, will host United on Oct. 14.
STATE COLLEGE
With shutout wins coming against Redland on Oct. 1, 2-0, and Oct. 3 against Cedar Cliff, 3-0, the Little Lions boys’ soccer team moved to 8-5-1 on the season after its third straight win.
The Little Lions will travel to Chambersburg on Oct. 10 for the team’s next match. State College lost the first matchup between the two earlier this year 2-0.
The Lady Little Lions earned a 1-0 road victory on Oct. 5 against Shikellamy. The defending district champs will battle Carlisle on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for the team’s next match.
