Boys’ soccer regular season come to a close

Centre County boys’ soccer teams fought to the final minute of the season, as Bellefonte and Philipsburg-Osceola tied 1-1. And, Penns Valley already has a playoff game scheduled – and against one of its toughest opponents.

BALD EAGLE AREA

The only game for the Bald Eagles this week was played Oct. 18, when Penns Valley came to town. The Rams took home the win, 3-0.
Conner Robinson made nine saves on 13 shots in the game.

BELLEFONTE

The Red Raiders played to the final minute Oct. 18, but failed to continue their winning streak as they tied Philipsburg-Osceola, 1-1, on the road in double overtime.

Both goals were scored in the first half and the teams’ defenses took over from there.

Bellefonte boys’ soccer ended its regular season with a 9-2-1 record, and 9-0-1 in conference play.

GRACE PREP

Grace Prep played its final game of the regular season against Harrisburg Academy on Oct. 17 and winning 4-0.

Noah Harris scored the only goal of the first half, stretching the back of the net in the 22nd minute.

In the second half, John Sicree, Isaac Mass and George Rusinque scored in the 31st, 41st and 55th minutes, respectfully.
Grace Prep outshot Harrisburg Academy, 8-3. Grace Prep ended its regular season with a 12-1-1 record.

PENNS VALLEY

The Rams traveled to Wingate on Oct. 18, taking on Bald Eagle Area and taking home a 3-0 win.

Sal Castiglia kicked off the game with a goal off an Alex Gretok assist in the 13th minute. Carter Felker scored in the 25th minute and again in the 59th to round out the scoring with a double. Castiglia assisted on Felker’s second goal.

Penns Valley outshot BEA 13-4 and Rams keeper Gabe Wert made four saves for the clean sheet.

On Oct. 19, the Rams traveled to Mifflinburg to take on the Wildcats. Mifflinburg defended its home turf with a 3-0 win.

Mason Novobilski scored two of Mifflinburg’s goals, with assists from Ethan Mangle and Dylan Linn.

Penns Valley’s first playoff game is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25, as Huntingdon arrives in Spring Mills for a District VI quarterfinal game. The first whistle is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

These two teams have played each other very closely this season. In their two meetings — at home and away — Huntingdon won each time, 2-1, in double overtime.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA

The Mountaineers tied the red-hot Red Raiders 1-1 in double overtime Oct. 18.
