PHILIPSBURG — Highlighting the holiday weekend was the W. Carl Lupton Memorial match play tournament at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge, which began with play May 26 and ended May 28. Both men’s and women’s championship flights had repeat champions, as the duo of Adam Timchak and Scott Nelson took home the men’s title, while Georgiann Way and Nancy Moskel were victorious on the women’s side.

Timchak and Nelson became back-to-back champions by clawing to defeat their biggest competition in the championship flight, 10-time Lupton Memorial victors Jim Dixon and Patrick Brown, with the duo up six strokes with four holes to play. Arch and Dan Myers captured third place.

The women’s flight was taken over by the team of Way and Moskel, who’s championship repeat effort was good enough to keep the second-place team, Daria Danko and Gabriele Healey, at bay by getting ahead by six strokes with five holes to play.
