Andrew P. “Ruben” Stasko, Sr, 81, of Clarence, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Born on February 3, 1940, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Baden) Stasko. 

Ruben attended the Bald Eagle Area High School. He served in the US Army from August 19, 1963 to August 4, 1965, earning the rank of PFC and Marksman (Rifle M-1) before his honorable discharge. He worked at JH France as a Press Changer, retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service.

Ruben enjoyed hunting, playing poker, 500 rummy, camping, and going for rides in the mountains. He made it a point to take a daily drive to the Fish Hatchery to make sure all was good. He appreciated a cold beer; Keystone Light was his favorite and liked a good shot of whiskey. He looked forward to holding his annual Chicken BBQ on Labor Day. His favorite pastime was family gatherings, especially on holidays.

Ruben was a member of the Clarence American Legion Post 813, Moose Club #1565, Young Democratic Club in Clarence, Snow Shoe VFW Post 5644, and the 3-Point Sportsman Club, where he served as Vice President. He was a past life member of the Snow Shoe Fire Hall.

Ruben is survived by his life partner of 40+ years, Betty L. Lyons of Clarence, one son, Joseph R. Stasko and his wife, Jennifer, of Blanchard, one daughter, Brenda L. Walker and her husband, Darren, of Bellefonte, and one brother, Alex “Henry” Stasko and his wife, Priscilla, of Moshannon. Also surviving are his six grandchildren: Joseph Stasko, Jr., Jade Stasko, Jesse Walker, Devan Walker, Kristi Stasko, and Jessica Stasko and three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Ruben was preceded in death by his son, Andrew P. “Dutch” Stasko, Jr, one grandson, Andrew P. Stasko, III; two sisters: Mary Kathryn Moore and Anna L. Moore, and six brothers: Martin, Thomas, Joseph, John, Philip, and Nicholas.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe Twp.

Following CDC guidelines, face coverings and social distancing will be requested for all services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home.
