Bruce Edgar Porter, 57, of Pine Grove Mills, passed away on Saturday April 11, 2026 at Mount Nittany Medical Centre.
Bruce was born on November 20, 1968 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Kenneth E. Porter and Janet “Kris” K. Porter, who survives him. On October 7, 1995, in Columbus, Ohio, he married Erin René Fleming, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, Erin and his mother, Kris, Bruce is survived by three children: Hannah (William) Pearce of Loretto, PA, Sophia Porter of Centre Hall, PA, and Isaiah Porter of Newnan, GA; two brothers: Jeffery (Shelia) Porter of Castle Rock, CO and John (Carrie) Porter of Centre Hall, PA; and two grandchildren, Amelia and Jacob Pearce. Along with his father, Ken, Bruce was preceded in death by his grandson Eugene Pearce.
Bruce graduated from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas in 1991; earning his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He spent most of his working years as a mechanical design engineer and, more recently, he was a fan-favorite driver with CATA Bus and local school buses.
He loved his time as a Boy Scout leader while his son Isaiah was in Scouts. He also enjoyed biking, hiking, spending time with his dog Kaden and playing board games with his family and his best friend, Glenn Kuhns. Bruce’s children’s favorite memories with him are hiking Shingle Town Gap, driving with him in his orange Schneider National 18 wheeler, and the “bring your kids to work day” at his engineering job.
There will be a public viewing from 4:30-6:00pm on Friday April 17, 2026 at Koch Funeral Home; 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. PA. A service will be held after the viewing, officiated by Pastor Keith Maurer.
