Charles E. Young, 84, of Bellefonte, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family in his home, on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Born on December 10, 1939, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Grace E. (Emenhizer) Young. On May 30, 1987, he married the love of his life and best friend, Karen A. (Ciprich) Young, who survives at home after sharing 37 years of marriage together. 

Charles was a 1958 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked for Columbia Gas for 36 years before retiring to enjoy an active retired life.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by his children: Chastity Chronister (Chad) of Maryland, Matthew Young of Bellefonte, Tammy Ellis of Tennessee, Randy Young, Kim Mitchell, and Kathy Gavin, all of Florida, and three grandsons, Caleb Chronister, Caden Chronister, both of Maryland, and Eric Young of Bellefonte. 

Charles was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1600 in Bellefonte and the Undine Fire Company No. 2, also in Bellefonte. He loved to be surrounded by his family. He enjoyed spending time at his wife’s home business and carried a special place in his heart for the families that they served. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, racing, and golf. 

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte. 

The Young family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sue, Kaylee, Brittany, Andrew, and the staff of 365 Hospice for their compassion and care.
