PHILIPSBURG – DeWayne B. Waring Sr., 83, of Philipsburg, and formerly of Mocks Hill (West Decatur) and Allport, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at Heritage Ridge Senior Living, Philipsburg.
Born on Feb. 23, 1942 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Edmund L. and Eva R. (Breth) Waring.
DeWayne was a graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola High School and served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1966 on the U.S.S. Fulton as a Petty Officer Third Class, and Machinist’s Mate Third Class. He worked for PennDOT until early retirement.
He was an avid lover of fishing and the outdoors. He also loved animals and his pets.
On Feb. 14, 1977, he married Emily A. (Beck) Waring, who preceded him in death earlier this year on March 15.
DeWayne is survived by three sons, Christopher Waring (Nebgen) formerly of Clearfield, DeWayne B. Waring Jr. and partner Steven Crocker of State College, and Matthew L. Waring of DuBois; two brothers, Luther P. Waring and wife Leah of Lewistown, and James C. Waring and wife Joan of Enola and Philipsburg; and a sister, Alice LeBlanc of Orange County, Calif.
In addition to his parents and wife, DeWayne was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald A. “Alfred” Waring, Edmund C. Waring and Roy F. Waring; and two sisters, Rita Overmoyer and Ardella P. Lobb.
Honoring DeWayne’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Allport Cemetery.
