Emily L. Richards, 98, of State College, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Wynwood House at Greenhills Village in State College. Born on December 28, 1922, in Ringtown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Wilda E. (Stauffer) Labenberg. She was born and raised in the Lutheran Church.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a medical transcriptionist for the Board of Veterans Appeals in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and Danville, Illinois.
Emily was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter S. Beresky, second husband, John A. Richards, a daughter, Diane Black, a sister, Catherine Farcht, and a nephew, David Farcht.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Berube and son-in-law, Joseph E. Berube, Jr., son-in-law, Sam Black, two granddaughters, Stephanie Black Gratkowski and Heather Berube Gates, four great grandchildren, Alexis Gratkowski, and Emily, Joseph, and Sarah Gates, two great-great grandsons, Landon and Owen Berube, and a niece, Susan Houck.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wynwood House for their kind and loving care, and to Grane Hospice for their compassionate assistance during these last few months.
A Celebration of Life and burial will be held private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
