It’s never goodbye, said Emily. It’s see you later alligator…after while crocodile. Emily A. Waring, 69, formerly of Allport, passed away peacefully with her sister Laurie and sons DeWayne and Matthew around her, on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. She was currently a resident at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill, Philipsburg.
Born on September 17, 1955 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of Harry “Kenneth” Beck and Edna P. (Fleck) Bickle and her husband Nelson. Emily was a 1973 graduate of West Branch High School and was a certified nurse’s aide, working for over 30 years traveling within Clearfield and Centre County caring for people. She spent several years serving as a scout leader with the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts and also supported her parents with the family business, Edna’s Greenhouse, which was located in Allport. Emily was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Osceola Mills, Sister to Sister Ministry with Julie Nevel, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Emily loved animals, crocheting, music, helping people and had a great faith in her Lord.
On February 14, 1977, she married DeWayne B. Waring Sr., formerly of West Decatur, and currently a resident at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill. In addition to her husband, Emily is survived by two sons DeWayne B. Waring Jr. and his partner Steven Crocker of State College and Matthew L. Waring of Dubois; two sisters Karen S. Milan and her husband Joseph of Naples, FL and Laurie A. Flango and her husband Ronald of Philipsburg; a brother Mark A. Beck of Smyrna, DE; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father, a sister Kathie Jo (Beck) Phelps and a niece Jessica Beck.
Honoring Emily’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. She will be laid to rest next to her mother in the Allport Cemetery.
