James R. “Ron” Breon, 85, of Pleasant Gap, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Born on June 16, 1937, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Kathryn M. (Wert) Breon. On September 24, 1961, at the St Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, he married the love of his life, V. Jane Grenoble.

Ron graduated from Centre Hall- Potter High School in 1955. He enlisted with the United States Air Force in October of 1955 and earned the rank of Airman 2nd Class before his honorable discharge in 1961. While enlisted, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Business from Penn State Beaver Campus in Pittsburgh. He then started his career at IBM as a computer programmer and manager, retiring in 1994, after more than 25 years of service with them. After retirement, he worked for Binghamton University as a website administrator and other technological positions.

Ron enjoyed the outdoors and became an avid runner as well as played various intramural sports while employed with IBM. He continued to enjoy his time spent programming and computing, even after his retirement. He was a true family man and loved his family dearly. He was an assistant coach in cross country and track and field while his children were in school and continued after they graduated. They will forever have fond memories and laughter from time spent playing in sports and watching their dad participate in his sporting events also. He was a focused, determined, joyful, and playful jokester. He cherished his family and grandchildren, often getting on the floor to interact with them, whether it was legos or just playing around, he was all in. He enjoyed taking family trips and making those memories. He was a devoted man, devoted to his family and his work. He held the title of son, brother, husband, and dad, but his favorite title was grandpa. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work. He will live on in their hearts, memories, and traditions.

Along with his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Kent M. Breon of Severna Park, MD; his daughter, Julie M. Hart and her husband, Jeffrey, of Fairfax, VA; four grandchildren, Ava A. Breon, Bryson M. Hart, Flora M. Breon, and Rhys B. Hart; and his twin brother, Lynn D. “Don” Breon of Centre Hall.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 1pm – 2pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 2pm with Pastor Becky Horn officiating.
