Janet L. Brown, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Centre Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Services in Bellefonte. She was born on October 6, 1936, to the late William “Pete” and Eleanor Stover. She graduated from Hublersburg High School in 1954.
On October 16, 1958, Janet married Richard L. Brown, who survives at home after sharing over 65 years of marriage together. Together they owned Brown’s Florist and Greenhouse, a kiosk at the Nittany Mall, and wholesale to vendors for 20 years. During that time, they raised two children, Melinda and Leon.
Janet and Dick loved to dance and spent many Saturday nights at the Undine Fire Company with dear friends. Janet also had a passion for Bingo and was always up for a game. She loved to decorate their home for every season and holiday. Often, cars would drive by just to see the displays that Dick and Janet would put up.
Janet is survived by her husband, Richard, children: Melinda Tierney and her husband, Tom, of Milesburg, and Leon and his wife, Karen, of Coal Township, grandchildren: Troy Tierney and his wife Sarah, Shannon (Brown) Donley and her husband Bill, and Richard C. Brown, great grandchildren: Talon and Skylynn Hanley, and her precious fur baby, Sophie. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Louise Mundy, Linda Brown, and Renee Brown, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
