Janet Viola Wilson, 88, of Snydertown, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Janet was born on November 2, 1937, daughter of the late Ralph and Verna (Poorman) Ishler. Janet graduated from Walker Township High School in 1955. She married Robert “Bob” in 1959, Bob preceded her in death on September 24, 2022. Janet worked at Cero Metal Corporation in Bellefonte and later worked and retired from Penn State University.

Janet is survived by her daughter Suanne (Robert Tice); three sisters, Grace Harter, Patsy Hollobaugh, Norma Gummo; and two brothers, Ralph (Carol) Ishler, and Gerald (Dixie) Ishler; extended family member, Shirley Leitch; and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Mae (Jarvis) Meyer, Mary Louise (Dean) Meyer, Shirley (Charles) Meyer; and brothers-in-law, Melvin Harter, William Hollobaugh, and David Gummo. Janet loved her family and made the most out of the time she was able to enjoy with them—campfires, making home-made ice cream, sleepovers, attending concerts, the many trips they made together, and faithfully attending the Grange Fair—one of her absolute favorites. It didn’t seem to matter what they were doing as long as they were together she was happy.

Janet was known for her contagious smile and giggle. Janet was a lifelong member of her beloved St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown, where she was a choir member and served actively on many church committees. She loved music and loved to line dance with her red hat and boots. Janet was passionate about sharing love whether it was by baking her pies, cookies, breads, a favorite meal, by volunteering, or helping with church projects. She was always present.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Messiah Lifeways for their compassion and respectful, loving, and dedicated care of Janet during her final days.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at St Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard with Pastor David Pencek officiating.
