Joyce K. Walker, 93, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at The Oaks in Pleasant Gap. Born on October 25, 1932, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Anna Mae and Theodore Roosevelt Kemberling. She was raised in Lewistown. Joyce met her husband, Ray, as a group of gentlemen from Pleasant Gap went to Lewistown to square dance. They were married on August 15, 1953, in Winchester, Virginia.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lisa Walker Riley and son, Ray A. “Chip” Walker, and his wife, Carol, all of Pleasant Gap. Also surviving is her grandson, Brian D. Walker, and his wife Kelley, and their daughter, Liadan, of Bellefonte, Joyce’s brother, Tedd L. Kemberling of Fayetteville, Georgia, and her best friend since childhood, Patricia Rose, also of Pleasant Gap.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Ray A. Walker, a grandson, Michael A. Walker, great grandson, Henry Walker, son-in-law, Fred Riley, and her sister, Doris K. Jordan.
Joyce worked for 17 years at Sutton Engineering in Bellefonte and later as a secretary for the family’s excavation and grading business.
Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star in Mifflin County.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Schreffler Manor at The Oaks for their compassion and care.
Following Joyce’s wishes, there will not be any funeral services held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Pleasant Gap Fire Company, 475 Robinson Lane, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823, or to the Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries at 998 Logan Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
