Marcelline S. Sprankle (Sheckler), 88, of State College, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026. Born August 30, 1937, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy (Haupt) Sheckler. In 1962, at the Presbyterian Church in Milesburg, she married her partner in life, Robert B. Sprankle, who preceded her in death in 2013.
Marcy graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1955. After high school, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in education. She was a teacher at the Rebersburg Elementary for many years prior to her retirement.
Marcy was a strong woman of faith. She was a long-time member of the Emmanuel Union Church in Tusseyville and participated in the choir at the Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg for many years.. She and her husband were active members of the Milesburg Museum. She enjoyed gardening and had a passion for flowers as well as an avid reader. She and her husband fostered starving and abandoned horses while they owned the Stone Fence Farm in Colyer. She was a true caretaker, both of her family and their home. You could find her outdoors working hard, caring for the flower gardens, horse pens, landscaping, as well as inside, decorating the interior of their home and sewing various items. She took pride in her work and all she and her husband worked so hard for. She had an amazing sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room. Her kind eyes and compassion made her a true friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Marcy is survived by her three daughters, Georgia Freeman and her husband, Harold, of Spring Mills, Heidi Peltzer and her husband, Eric, of State College, and Jessica Slobozien and her husband, Jan, of Lexington Park, MD; 11 grandchildren, Dylan, Rachel, Garrett, Victoria, Kira, Alexa, Derek, Mike, Bobby, Alex, and Christopher; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Rimmey of Clayton, NC and Rebecca Peters (Pete) of Howard. She is also survived by a sister in-law, Sally Medlar (Charles) of Paradise, PA.
A celebration of life service will be held in the near future and details will be announced.
