Mary “Mamie” Emily Reese, 79, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on March 13, 1944, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Davis) Berg. On April 2, 1966, she married her beloved husband, Richard L. Reese, Sr., who survives her at home after sharing 58 years of marriage together.
Mamie was a 1962 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School. She worked at Penn State University, Mellon Bank, and then Omega Bank throughout the years.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her children, Richard L. Reese, Jr. (Pamela) of Pleasant Gap, Christopher A. Reese (Kim) of Bellefonte, and Katherine A. Reese (Paul) of State College, and nine grandchildren: Ashley Reese of Lincoln, Nebraska, Adam Reese of Pleasant Gap, Abby Vasey (Kyle) of Denver, Colorado, Benjamin Reese, Emeline Reese, Lilah Grace Reese, Kara Bates, Bayli Bates, and Hunter Bates, all of State College.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Andrew D. Reese, on February 29, 2012.
Mamie was a faithful member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. After her retirement, she often volunteered to help with the various needs of the church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making personalized cards for all occasions. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family. Mamie loved to dote on her grandchildren; she never missed an opportunity to show them how proud that she was of them. A loving wife, a caring mother, and an adoring grandmother, she will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10 – 11 AM, at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11AM, at the church, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial will directly follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
