Nancy Hansgen Faris, 86, of State College, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on September 8, 2024. Born on October 16, 1937, in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Clio Hansgen. Nancy married the love of her life, Ronald M. Faris, of Uniontown, PA, and they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage until Ronnie’s passing.
Nancy is survived by her son, Ronald M. Faris, and his wife, Cathleen K. Faris, of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Amy McGeever, Molly E. Faris, and Captain Kirk C. Faris, USAF. She is also survived by her son, Christopher M. Faris, of State College, PA, and her daughter, Anne Knepp, and her husband, Clayton Knepp, of McVeytown, PA, along with her granddaughter, Caitlyn Deludos.
A proud graduate of McKeesport Area High School, Nancy went on to earn her degree in Education from Penn State in 1959. During her time at Penn State, she was a dedicated member of the Chi Omega sorority. Nancy taught as an elementary school teacher at both Lemont and Houserville Elementary Schools in State College, leaving a lasting impact on her students and colleagues. She will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her, as a devoted teacher, friend, and loving family matriarch.
Nancy remained connected to her alma mater as a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association. She was also a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where her faith and community service were important parts of her life.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Reverend George Jakopac officiating.
Nancy was a sweet caring person who will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, students, and all those whose lives she touched.
