Dellas W. Stover, 85, of Pleasant Gap, passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2013. Born in Woodward on February 8, 1927, Dellas was a son of the late Eugene M. and Sarah Hosterman Stover. He was a 1946 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. On December 7, 1952, Dellas married Shirley A. Long, who preceded him in death just a short 3 months and 3 weeks ago. Dellas was employed in the plumbing and heating department at the former O.W. Houts and Son in State College with 40 plus years of service. He was a long time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap where he helped with maintenance and repair issues. He and Shirley were very active members of the Centre County TRIAD senior citizen group.

Dellas enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tending public auctions and many other outdoor activities. He had a special bond with his two Brittany Spaniel hunting dogs. Dellas had a wonderful God given gift of helping people. Many times customers of Houts would call him with heating or plumbing problems and even though it was not his responsibility, Dellas would go to their homes to correct the problem, even if it was during the night. He was a wonderful handyman and could fix just about anything and do it willingly. As with our mother, we also have many wonderful memories of our father to tuck away in our hearts. He will be deeply missed.

Dellas is survived by one daughter, Sharon Jabco (Buck) of Bellefonte; two sons, Craig Stover (Judy) of Port Matilda and Brian Stover (Lorri) of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Daniel Stover (Jerileigh) of East Freedom, Matt Jabco of Williamsville, NY and Mike Jabco of Bellefonte. In addition to his wife, Dellas was preceded in death by siblings, Stanley Stover, Marion Keller, Arlene Dorman and Marie Corman.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 12 noon – 1:00 pm at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 with Pastor Kevin Shock officiating. In accordance with family wishes, Dellas will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim during a private family service. Contributions in memory of Dellas may be given to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N. Main Street, Pleasant Gap, Pa. 16823.
