Erma D. Shady, 90 of Pigeon Lane, Mill Hall, entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2010 at the Lock Haven Hospital.
She was born on June 23, 1919 the daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie Butler. She and George D. Shady were married on March 4, 1936, in the First Baptist Church in Lock Haven. They would have been married 74 years.
During her employment years, she was employed at Woolrich Woolen Mills, Sylvania Plant in Mill Hall, and Bobbie Brooks in Lock Haven. She retired from Bobbie Brooks in 1982. She was the president of the local "United Garment Workers Union".
She enjoyed making quilts and clothing for the family.
She was a loving and caring mother, who dedicated her life to her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are two sons; Melvin D. of Beech Creek and Terry R. of Lewisburg, and four daughters; Carol Levi of Flemington, Doris Ritter of Lock Haven, Vonda Baker of Garnet Valley and Sharon McCauley of York. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
Her husband George D. Shady; a daughter Connie Schenck; granddaughter Georgia Watson; six brothers; Joseph, John, Samuel, Walter, Chester, and Merrill; six sisters, Hazel, Charlotte, Gertrude, Etta, Loney, and Tillie all preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard with the Rev. Donald Fornwalt officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Erma's memory to Monument Church of Christ c/o of Kader-Neff Funeral Home, PO Box 108 Howard, Pa. 16841. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard Twp.
