Gerald LeRoy Krebs, 80, known to family and friends as Jerry, died at
his Centre Hall home on March 31, 2018.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
He loved spending time with his family, meeting friends for lunch,
bowling, camping and the annual Centre County Grange Fair.

He was born Aug. 1, 1937 in Lock Haven to parents LeRoy and Sarah Deibler Krebs and spent his early years living on his grandparents farm. When Jerry was three his family moved to Centre Hall, a town he would love the rest of his life. He graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1955 and shortly after he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.

After returning from the Army, Jerry met Donna Rae Floray at the Spring Mills Carnival. They were married on April 9,1960.

In 1958 he joined his father’s business, Krebs Radiator Service, first located in Centre Hall and then on Atherton Street in State College.

When he retired in 1997, he said he felt blessed to have spent nearly 40 years working alongside his father.

Jerry strongly believed in community service and became a longtime volunteer for the Centre Hall Fire Department and its ambulance service. He also served on the Centre Hall Borough Council, spending many years as president.

He was a devoted member of Trinity United Church of Christ, along with Old Fort Masonic Lodge No. 537, the Centre Forest No. 129 of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the State College Elks Club. After retiring, Jerry worked for Heintzelman Funeral Home in Centre Hall.

Jerry is survived by his wife, three daughters, Jeanette Krebs of Harrisburg, Dr. Jessica Krebs of Lancaster and Janda Hankinson (Raymond) of Centre Hall; a brother Charles John Krebs of State College; and six grandchildren Sophia and Anya Fox of Harrisburg, Nicholas and Olivia Jimenez of Lancaster and Andrew and Lydia Hankinson of Centre Hall.

Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son in law, Barry Fox.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 10am until 12 noon, at the Trinity United Church of Christ Church in Centre Hall. Funeral services will follow at the church with Pastor David Downer officiating. Burial with full military honors will at the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
