Dr. Glenn W. Gamble, 86, of State College, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at home.

Born on November 10, 1926 in McDonald, PA, he was a son of the late Franklin Oscar and Emma Faye (Rankin) Gamble. On December 23, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD, he was married to Nancy (Saylor) Gamble, who survives him.

Dr. Gamble graduated from McDonald High School in 1944 and received the following degrees from Penn State University: a B.S. in Ag. Education in 1951; a M.Ed. in Ag. Education in 1955; and a D.Ed. in Counselor Education in 1959.

Glenn honorably served our country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War.

From 1955-1957, Glenn worked at Wittenberg University, from 1959-1961 at the University of Florida, and from 1961 – 1990 as the Director of Career Services at Rutgers University.

Dr. Gamble was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church; the Association for School, College, and University Staffing (ASCUS), serving as President from 1987-1988; the Mid-Atlantic Association for School, College, and University Staffing (MASCUS); was a Life Member of the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club. He served on the Penn State Alumni Council; was a Founding Member and Past President of the College of Education Alumni Society Board; and was a member and Past President of the Northern New Jersey Alumni Club.

Dr. Gamble, along with his wife Nancy, was awarded the following honors from Penn State University: the Phillip Mitchell Service Award in 1995; the Centre for Performing Arts Service Award in 2006; the Charles Lupton Volunteer Award in 2007; and the College of Education Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2009.

Glenn enjoyed living at the Village, participating in Penn State activities, sponsoring scholarship students, volunteering in the community, and traveling worldwide with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kathleen Gamble, Karen Gamble Brunner (Bob), and Linda Gamble (Mike Zisman); grandchildren, Marisa Brunner, Rob Brunner, and Katerina Zisman; step grandchildren, Ruth, Steve, and Adam Zisman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Harvey Gamble; and an infant sister, Ruth Emma Gamble.

All Services will be Private.

The Gamble family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center, the Oncology staff at Partners in Cancer Care, and the Home Nursing Agency Health and Hospice Groups for their excellent and compassionate care during Glenn’s illness.
