Glenn O. Vonada, formerly of Aaronsburg and Millheim, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg. He was 96. Born April 13, 1921 in Woodward, Glenn was a son of the late Fred and Mamie (Warntz) Vonada. He was a 1938 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. He also attended the former Farmer’s High School, now known as Penn State University. On November 1, 1941 he married Trovola E. Stover, who preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1995. On November 29, 1997, Glenn was remarried to Rachel Kline who also preceded him in death.

Glenn was a lifelong farmer in Aaronsburg. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim where he was a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Penns Valley Men’s Chorus. He was a lifetime member of the Millheim Lions Club where he had served as secretary for five years. Glenn served as a board member of the Penns Valley High School in the early years. After retiring in 1980, Glenn moved to Millheim. In April 1995, Glenn moved to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg. In his spare time Glenn enjoyed, watching Phillies baseball, bowling and pinochle.

Glenn is survived by one daughter, Linda A. Claar of Woodward; three sons, David G. Vonada (Sharon) of Ormond Beach, FL, James C. Vonada (Kathleen) of Madisonburg and Roger A. Vonada (Renee) of Carnegie. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Angela Vonada, Shelby Appell (Michael), Jan Vonada (Shelly), Kristin Meiser (John), Ashley Vonada, John Claar (Kim), Jason Claar (Lorie), Andrew Vonada and Morgan Vonada, along with 11 great grandchildren. In addition to Trovola and Rachel, Glenn was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Donald Claar.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 24th from 9-11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Frank Harpster officiating. Glenn will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be given to St John’s Lutheran Church, Po Box 439, Millheim, PA 16854.
