James C. Evock, 90, formerly of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Midlothian, Va. Born Oct. 17, 1919, in Emporium, he was a son of the late Charles Evock and Mary Yasavic Evock. On Sept. 8, 1945, he married Louise Aikey, who preceded him in death in 2006.

He was a 1939 graduate of Bellefonte High School, and was retired from Warner Company. He was a member of St Matthews Catholic Church in Dauphin, BPOE # 1094, VFW Post 1600, Undine Fire company, and Bellefonte American Legion where he was a past post commander. He served in the US Army from 1942-1945. In 1945 he received the Purple Heart Go 11 Hq 141 G. H. 45. He also received the Good Conduct Medal 1944, American Theater Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal.

Mr. Evock is survived by one son, James Evock, Jr., of Arizona; one daughter, Margaret Maloy, of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers.

A public visitation will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 9-11 a.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte PA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will follow at St John Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte.
