Jean E. Rockey, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg.
Born on March 2, 1921 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Archie T. Irvin and Mary Martin Irvin. On July 15, 1939 in Winchester, Va. she married Franklin H. Rockey, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1991. She was a homemaker. Jean was a graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Jean was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap.
She is survived by a brother, Jack M. Irvin, of Port Matilda; and two sisters, Virginia Holland, of Reading, and Sis Roadarmel, of Pleasant Gap. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, three sisters, and two brothers.
There will be a public visitation held on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 from 9 – 11 a.m., the time of the service at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N. Main St., Pleasant Gap. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the church with Reverend Kevin Shock officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Gap Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, 500 Front St., Milesburg, PA 16853. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
