Joseph P. Bokar, 84 of McVeytown, formerly of the Wilkes Barre area, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Meadow View Manor Personal Care home at McVeytown.

He was born January 25, 1931 at Wilkes Barre, PA, a son of the late George and Anna Pohan Bokar.

Mr. Bokar served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned the following medals; The Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, A Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a United Nations Service Medal.

He spent most of his working life in the printing business; early on as a salesman and later operating his own design and printing business. He enjoyed raising homing pigeons, and training pigeons for racing. He also enjoyed traveling and was a significant sports enthusiast .

Surviving Mr. Bokar are two daughters, Heidi Lloyd of Dallas, PA, and Heather Stepanski (Stephen) of McVeytown; and one granddaughter Jennifer Lloyd.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives Doris and Elsie Mae, and his brothers and sisters.

At his request all services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial with military honors will be at Indiantwown Gap National Cemetery.
