Obituary of Katherine Marie Romanko

Katherine Marie Romanko, formerly of Millheim, passed from this life on Thursday, February 23 at Wynwood House in Boalsburg. Born July 27, 1925 in Masontown, Katherine was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Vlasich. She was a graduate of Masontown High School. Soon thereafter, Katherine married Michael E. Romanko, who preceded her in death.

Katherine was a member of the St. Anne Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown OH where she was very actively involved with church activities. Every Friday for years she and other women of the church would gather to make pierogis. In her younger years when she was able, Katherine and Michael loved to travel. She was most of all a loving wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her husband and family.

Katherine is survived by two daughters, Monica Kieffer of Millheim and Bonnie Brinker (Ron) of Weston, MA; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Jesse Kieffer and Jackson Brinker. Katherine is the last of her family having been preceded in death by nine siblings.

Graveside services will be held at the Calvary Chapel on the Calvary Cemetery grounds in Youngstown, OH on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1:00pm.
