Lester J. Horton, 50, of Snow Shoe passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born in Bellefonte on December 16, 1963, the son of the late Dennis R. and Susan McMurtrie Horton. He is survived by his wife, Marcia K. Etters Horton.
Lester was a Captain at SCI Rockview prior to his retirement. He was an Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Bald Eagle High School and a Varsity Wrestling Coach at Bellefonte High School. He was a graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He loved wrestling and football. He was named the District Six outstanding wrestler in 1982. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He attended the Port Matilda Methodist Church.
Lester is survived by his brother, Jeffrey A. (Tess) Horton of Marienville and his sister, Brenda S. Appleton of Julian. Also surviving Lester are his brothers-in-law, Douglas (Patti) Etters and Kevin Etters; his niece, Megan Horton and his nephews, Michael Horton, Travis Appleton and Matthew Apleton. Lester is also survived by his black lab. “Jeter”.
Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, 512 S. Moshannon Ave., Snow Shoe, Pa. at 11:00 A.M. Family and friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, Pa. on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M.
Burial will be in the Church of Christ Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp., Centre Co., Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Snow Shoe Church of Christ, P.O. Box 148, Snow Shoe, Pa. 16874. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, Pa.
