Margaret G. Kochik, 90, formerly of Moshannon, residing at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on January 6, 1920, in Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late Michael & Mary Pravlik Kosicky of Grassflat. On February 26, 1938, she married Emro Stephen Kochik, who died on August 23, 1986.
Margaret attended St. Cyril Academy in Danville and Cooper Twp. High School in Clearfield County. She was employed at Sears in Philadelphia for many years prior to her retirement.
Margaret was a member of the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Church (formerly St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church) in Clarence where she had served as the church organist for many years. She was a member to the Altar and Rosary Society and The Ladies Slovak Lodge #348 Lodge-St Ann’s Society Branch 48 of which, at one time, she was the Officer of the Junior Branch 199.
Margaret especially enjoyed traditional Slovak music and was proud of her Slovak heritage. She was grateful to her parents for passing the great customs of their heritage on to her. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and taking pictures of their happy times together.
Margaret is survived by her two sons, Michael and his wife Lucy Kochik of Philadelphia and William Kochik, Sr of Moshannon. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren; Deanna Kochik, Stephen and his wife Juanita Kochik, William Jr and his wife Colleen Kochik, 5 great grandchildren; Randy, Brian, Stephen, Marie, & Jonathan, one great great grandchild, Nora, and by one sister, Agnes Ruscin of Westlake, OH.
Along with her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her infant son, James and by her daughter in-law, Joyce Kochik.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 9-10:30am with the rosary being said at 10:15am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11am, at the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Church in Clarence with Father Lubomir J. Strecok officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St Michaels Roman Catholic Cemetery, Clarence.
