Obituary of Mary Alice Richter , 88

Mary Alice Richter, 88, of State College, died March 20, 2010 at the Atrium of the Village at Penn State.

The family would like to thank the Atrium staff for the wonderful care that was given to Mary.

Born August 28, 1921, in Tusseyville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel T. and Clara Robb Swartz.

On August 5, 1950, in Bethlehem, PA, she married Jerry G. Richter, who survives at home.

Mary was a 1939 graduate of Centre Hall High School and attended Thompson Business College and the Strayer's Business School.

Mrs. Richter worked for the Middletown Air Depot and the Pennsylvania State Treasury for 10 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. She was co-founder of the former Military Museum Auxiliary in Boalsburg, a former member of the Democratic Women's Club, and also served on the Board of Elections in State College. She was a volunteer for St. Paul's UMC daycare center and the former Centre Community Hospital.

Mary enjoyed gardening, reading, and antique collecting.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Michaels and her husband Brian of Boalsburg.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 1:00 PM until the time of Funeral Services at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Monica Ouellette officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
