Obituary of Melissa Torsell

Melissa Rose Torsell passed away Monday evening peacefully with her family surrounding her at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. She was born on August 19th, 1919 in Jacksonville, PA, the daughter of the late Constance & Francis (Sharp) Curtin. She married Joseph Torsell who preceded her in death on June 4th, 1997.
She was a homemaker, worked on the farm and devoted much of her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, crocheting, painting ceramics, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Lucas and Katherine Sprout. Her six children include four sons and two daughters, Frank and wife Dolores Torsell of Bellefonte, Bernie and wife Darlene Torsell of Pa Furnace, Mary Lojeski & Susan Clouser of Bellefonte, Jim and wife Kathryn Torsell of Bellwood, David and wife Michelle Torsell of Bellefonte. The 10 grandchildren include Kelly Bressler, Joseph Lojeski, Matt Torsell, Lisa Bellows, Tony Torsell, Travis Torsell, Joanna Jennings, Michelle Campbell, Vincent Torsell, and Shane Torsell along with 11 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 8:30 – 930 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, PA 16823, funeral mass will immediately follow at 9:30, with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte.
