Mike R. Bodle, 60, of Julian, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home due to a logging accident. Born on August 25, 1957, in Bellefonte, he is the son of Donald Bodle of Bellefonte and Jane F. Leamer Bodle of Pleasant Gap. On February 16, 2006, he met his soul mate, Teresa Spackman. They were married in August 2014. Teresa survives at home.

Mike was a 1975 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He was a member of the Bellefonte Presbyterian Church, Union Grange, and the Bellefonte Garden Club.

Mike worked many years at Lowes as a Commercial Sales Representative, retiring in 2014. After retirement, he went to work part-time at Penn State in the Agriculture Department.

Mike was a hardworking, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his wife Teresa, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed remodeling and fixing up his farmhouse with his wife, which they also turned into ‘’The Catalpa House Bed & Breakfast’’. Mike was an avid fly fisherman, skilled fly tier, novice winemaker, hunter and a huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Mike enjoyed traveling and was looking forward to spending his summer in his new RV. He was planning to travel to Alaska this summer for an Orvis Fly Fishing trip with his best friend, Larry Shutika. Mike enjoyed traveling to try new restaurants and learning new recipes to use in his smoker. Mike was an excellent cook. Mike and Teresa enjoyed working together on their farm, “The Morning Glory Farm” where they raised beef cattle and meat goats as well as farming their vegetable garden. Mike enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets. He will truly be missed by everyone he knew. He and Teresa loved to walk their dogs daily, Lola, Jake, and Mack. This is when they would plan their next adventure.

Along with his wife, Mike is survived by two daughters; Brittany Walk and her husband, Troy, of Bellefonte and Mikala Bodle and her companion, Alex Summerhayes, of Massachusetts, one step son, Michael Benninghoff and his wife, Kaytee, of Bellefonte, three step daughters; Heather Cleaver and her husband, Aaron, of Howard, Amy Rose and her husband, Damian, of Venetia, PA, and Kelley Benninghoff and her companion, Brian Struble, of Snow Shoe, one brother, Chris Bodle and his wife, Stacey, of Pleasant Gap and his mother in-law, Doris J. Spackman of Boalsburg.

Also surviving are his two grandchildren; Dallas Grant Walk and Lillian Grace Summerhayes and two step grandchildren; A.J. Cleaver and Arbor Cleaver. He was very proud to be a Grandpap and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Grant Bodle who passed away in 1997.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mike will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11am at the Catalpa House, 2152 S. Eagle Valley Road, Julian, PA with Pastor Stephen R. Hicks officiating. A luncheon will follow the services.
