Paul E. Houdeshell, 76, of Zion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on October 6, 1938, in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Millard and Myrtle Coulter Houdeshell. On August 29, 1964, in Marsh Creek, he married Edna I. Etters, who survives at home.

Paul attended the Girard School in Clearfield County. He was enlisted in the United States Army earning the rank of SP4. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Marsh Creek.

Paul was employed at the Welch Foods, Inc., as a Warehouseman, retiring in 2000 after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Howard VFW Post 8269, Bellefonte VFW Post1600, North East Masonic Lodge #399 and the Valley of Erie Scottish Rite Free Masonry 32nd Degree.

Paul enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife, children; Sara L. Tresler of Kingsland, GA., Carl E. Houdeshell and his wife, Theresa, of Dover, PA; brother, Donald Houdeshell of Butler, PA; sister, Julia Smith of Clearfield, PA; grandchildren Joseph Tresler, Jr., Donna Gregory, and Cameron Houdeshell; great grandson, Lars Gregory; and his mother in law, Mable Etters of Zion.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in law, Joseph Tresler, Sr.; brothers; Clair and Milford; sister, Marie Martell, and father in law, Milford Etters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, with a Masonic Service at 7:45pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Douglas Mellott officiating. Burial will be at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard Twp.
