Philip John Carlin, 65, of State College, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born on July 29, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James A. and Julia Mogielski Carlin. On May 28, 1983 he married Julia Felkar, who preceded him in death on September 23, 2013.

He is survived by two children, Noelle E. Carlin and her partner, Stormi, of Orlando, FL and Neal C. Carlin of State College; one sister, Mardie Carlin Fehl and her husband, Tut, of Zelienople; one brother, George H. Carlin and his wife, Miki, of Baden. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael James Carlin.

Philip was a 1967 graduate of North Hills High School in Pittsburgh. He received a Bachelor’s degree in English from University of Pittsburgh in 1971 and a Master’s degree from La Roche College in Pittsburgh in 1991.

He retired in 2011 after 20 years of service to Penn State University as a Benefits Specialist.

Philip was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was a board member for Foxdale Village for several years and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 4th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Port Matilda, PA. A celebration of life will be held at 7 pm on Friday, June 5th at Hunting Ridge Meeting House in Bridgeville, PA.
