Robert past from this life into his heavenly father’s arms on February 4, 2014 at 10:00 PM with his family and loved ones by his side.
Robert A. Bickle, 78, of Zion Road, Bellefonte, Pa. was born September 18, 1935 in State College, Pa. He was the son of the late Harold Bickle and Dessie Frantz of State College, Pa. On June 17, 1955 he married his devoted wife of 59 years, Lois J. (Bitner) Bickle who resides on Zion Road, Bellefonte, Pa.
He is survived by four children, Terry A. Bickle of Centre Hall, Pa., Randy L. Bickle of Stormstown, Pa., Carol E. McCully of Milroy, Pa. and Jeffrey S. Bickle of Bellefonte, Pa. He is also survived by one brother, Gerald Bickle of Lajose, Pa.; three sisters, Janet Moyer of Bellefonte, Pa., Jackie Jury of Poe Valley, Pa. and Cindy Shawley of Julian, Pa. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Terry Bickle of Snow Shoe, Pa., Chris McCully of Philipsburg, Pa., Amanda McCully of Milroy, Pa., Jason Bickle of Pleasant Gap, Pa., Derik Bickle of State College, Pa., Sam Bickle of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Janelle Bickle of New York and his three great grandchildren, Ryan, Shianne and Cassie of Snow Shoe. Pa.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Kibe, Jean Woodring and Irene Beaver.
Robert enjoyed coon hunting with his favorite dog Big Red. Robert raised and trained Red from just a puppy. He won many competition hunts and became Grand Champion. Robert also was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Penn State football. Robert also enjoyed all other types of hunting, and golfing, where one of greatest moments was hitting a hole in one at the Elks Country Club where he was a member. He also enjoyed working in his garage fixing tractors and planting flowers around the house.
Robert was owner and founder of R.A. Bickle Roofing retiring in 1997.
A viewing for Robert’s family and friends will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home in Milesburg on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., with a private funeral service to follow. His good friend and neighbor, Pastor Kenneth Codner will be officiating. His final resting place will be the Zion Union Cemetery, Walker Twp., Centre Co.
Robert will be greatly missed by his wife, children, family and friends.
