Theresa Helen Riglin, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Born on July 6, 1932, in Ashley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Stella (Yanick) Stanek. She was the beloved wife to Stephen A. “Chick” Riglin, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2013.

She was a graduate of Sugar Notch High School. Theresa went on to work as a lab and x-ray technician at the Bellefonte Hospital.

She is survived by three sons: Vincent Riglin (Mary) of Baton Rouge, LA, Frank Riglin, of Bellefonte, and Thomas Riglin (Mary Katherine), of Howard; and two daughters, Barbara Rockey, of Bellefonte and Wendy Miehle (Konrad) of Queen Creek, Arizona. Also surviving is one brother, Frank J. Stanek (Florence), of Canonsburg, PA, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Stanek.

Theresa was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA and Catholic Daughters 448.

Never wishing to be in the limelight, Theresa was quite surprised when the Bellefonte Girl Scout Little House was dedicated to her on August 16, 2017 to honor her 52 years of service. Her purpose in Girl Scouts was always to be an advocate for her girls, but never to take the attention away from them.

She is joined with her beloved husband to celebrate what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.

She enjoyed making crafts and especially making hand-crafted angels for the children of St. John’s Catholic Church receiving their First Communion. She was a dedicated volunteer to the church. In 2014, she received the “Catholic Daughter of the Year” award.

Theresa was very proud of her Polish heritage. For over two decades, she worked relentlessly at spreading word of her great Uncle Rudy Stanek of Poland, who was beatified as a saint. She would give a book and Relic to those interested and was even invited to do presentations and speeches in his honor.

There will be a public visitation held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 134 E Bishop Street with Father George Jakopac. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
