Virginia Jensen, a long-time resident of Stormstown and formerly of Philadelphia PA, died peacefully at The Oaks of Pleasant Gap on Monday, December 25, 2017 with her husband and daughter at her side.

Virginia was a 1950 graduate of Roxborough High School in Philadelphia. She worked in various secretarial positions before retiring from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1987, where she served as Tumor Registrar in the Oncology Department for many years.

Virginia (Ginny to her friends), loved everything Penn State, but especially Penn State Football, Penn State Women’s Volleyball and the Penn State Blue Band. Fall promised football and tailgates with family and good friends. In her later years, Virginia was a proud “Blue Band Grandmom.”

Virginia was generous with her time. Whenever and wherever her family needed her, she was there. Additionally, Virginia volunteered at Centre County Meals on Wheels and knitted baby blankets for local hospitals. For (12) years, Virginia and her husband, Bob, kept a two-mile stretch of PA 550 litter-free as volunteers of the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Virginia was pre-deceased by her parents, Edith (Kompas) and Thomas Duffey. She is survived by her husband of (47) years, Robert. Virginia is also survived by her daughter, Cynthia (John) Hamilton, and her beloved granddaughter, Suzanne Hamilton.

A memorial service will be take place at the Heintzelman Funeral Home at 1034 Benner Pike in State College on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia’s name to the Penn State Blue Band, Floating Lions Club, at GiveTo.PSU.edu/Floating Lions Club.
