Wayne A. Foust, 73, of Centre Hall, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the UPMC Altoona Medical Center. Born on October 30, 1949, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Warren L. and Mildred M. “Midge” (Swatsworth) Foust.

45 years ago, he began dating the love of his life, Carol D. “Dianne” Barndt, who survives at home.

Wayne graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1967. He was awarded a full scholarship for college and graduated from Williamsport Area Community College in 1969 with an Applied Arts and Science degree in Electronic Technology. He earned a certificate in Electronic Technology from the Centre County Technical Institute, a Certificate of Completion for the Technical Education Program and the Technical Evaluation Course from the Western Electric Company and in 1973, he earned a Certificate with Honor for Successful Completion of Seminar Courses in Professional Counseling from the Wii-var Institute of Employment Counselors. He had worked as a field engineer and inspector for various companies that installed underground fiber optics. He, like his father and grandfather, was self-employed as an automotive mechanic for many years.

Wayne was a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge in Centre Hall, a Jaffa Shriner Noble, and a Past Grand Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He loved the outdoors, whether he was racing flat track motorcycles when he was younger or hunting, he loved it all. He enjoyed working as a field engineer and loved working with fiber optics, but nothing compared to his passion for working on cars. He appreciated old cars and enjoyed attending car shows. He was a strong willed, hard working man that did not accept the word “No” often. He took pride in gifting items to people he loved, whether they needed it or not and often times he saw it as an opportunity for a well-played practical joke.

Wayne was a patriotic man. He was very proud of his dad and brother for their service to our country. He honored others while serving as a member of the Bellefonte VFW Honor Guard. He will continue to live in the memories of those that knew him and loved him.

Along with Dianne, Wayne is survived by his brother, Stephen L. Foust and his wife, Carolyn, of Centre Hall; his sister, Sharon L. Miller and her husband, Todd, of Lock Haven; his nieces and nephews, Michelle Collison (Craig) of Madisonburg, Heather Zimmerman (Donald) of Holland, TX, William Miller (Kristen) of Beech Creek, and Christopher Miller (Kristen) of Newport News, VA; and all of Dianne’s siblings and nieces and nephews that he saw as family.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 10am – 11am, at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 11am with a funeral service immediately following with Pastor Fred Bennet officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, PO Box 579, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
