William R. “Bill” Workman, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1935, in Stormstown, PA to the late William S. and Geneva (Reed) Workman. On June 26, 1982, in Bellefonte, he married his beloved wife of 43 years, Karen (Decker) Workman, who survives at home.
Bill graduated in 1953 from Hublersburg High School. He dedicated more than 40 years of his life to a successful career with Bankers Life and Casualty company. Outside of work Bill found great joy in the outdoors. He had a passion for landscaping and gardening. An avid golfer, he was deeply involved with Nittany Country Club, where he proudly served as Past President. Bill also served on the Planning Commission Board for Walker Township. He was also a remarkable competitor on the course, earning the title of club golf champion ten times throughout the years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debbie Workman Kerstetter (Barry), William J. Workman (Faith), Cindy Workman Walker (Donald), Thomas Workman (Kelly), Amy Workman Mahen (Keith), Richard Leathers (Barb), Alan Leathers (Luz) and Stephanie Playa (Edgar), and one brother, Gary Workman. Also surviving are his 20 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Emma Workman Gunsallus.
There will be a public viewing held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 9:30AM until 11:30AM, at Nittany Valley Alliance Church, 1003 Nittany Valley Drive, Bellefonte. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30AM, at the church with Pastor Ryan Miller officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
