Penn State Basketball Looking to Fill Out Rest of Staff

no description

Penn State men’s basketball continues to search for all its various positions under new head coach Micah Shrewsberry as the program has started to list openings on the university’s job boards.

As expected, Shrewsberry is currently searching for a new Director of Recruiting and Director of Player Development. Those roles were previously held by longtime staffers Kevin Hudash and David Caporaletti. Neither were expected to be retained under Shrewsberry, and Caporaletti in particular, a longtime and loyal member of former head coach Pat Chambers’ staff, seemed unlikely to stick around in the first place.

Shrewsberry is expected to tab a known name in recruiting circles for the Director of Recruiting position.

So far Shrewsberry has announced just two hires since taking the job, landing associate head coach Adam Fisher first and then earlier this week assistant Aki Collins joined the fold as well.

Additionally former Nittany Lions Talor Battle and Nick Colella are both listed on Penn State’s updated directory as a member of the basketball staff and according to a source both are expected to be kept on staff, although roles and titles are yet to be announced and/or determined. Battle joined Penn State’s staff last season as an assistant while Colella has been with the program for several seasons.

In an interesting twist, Shrewsberry might have a slightly different staff configuration than was present under Chambers with the possibility for more positions and general support staff roles. Penn State has made neither Shrewsberry’s contract, nor any information regarding staff budgeting, public and is not expected to do so.

That said, a larger staff will speak for itself.
