Penn State football’s 2022 recruiting class isn’t slowing down, adding a second commitment of the day on Saturday evening.

Four-star linebacker Abdul Carter announced on Twitter his decision to commit to the Nittany Lions, choosing James Franklin’s program over South Carolina and LSU, among others.

Carter is the second prospect to join the 2022 class on Saturday, joining three-star safety Kevin Winston Jr.

Carter hails from Glenside, Pennsylvania, and he plays his high school ball at La Salle College High School. According to 247Sports, the 6’4″, 235-pound linebacker is the ninth-best prospect in his home state, as well as the No. 36 linebacker prospect in his class according to the 247 Network.

He’s now the 24th player to join the Nittany Lions’ No. 2-nationally ranked 2022 class. Additionally, he’s the 14th four-star prospect to commit to the program thus far this cycle and the 13th prospect to commit this July.

With Carter’s commitment, Penn State currently has two linebackers in its Class of 2022. Three-star prospect Keon Wylie became the first linebacker to join the class earlier this month.
