Shadle Announces Candidacy for Centre County Jury Commissioner

Centre County Democratic Jury Commissioner Laura Shadle announced on Monday her candidacy for the position in this year’s election.

Shadle was appointed to the position in early 2020 to fill the remaining two years of former Jury Commissioner Jason Moser’s term, following his election as county controller.

Two jury commissioners — one Democrat and one Republican — are elected to four year terms to administer the criminal and civil jury selection process. Hope Miller has held the other jury commissioner position since 2010. Both are up for election this year.

“My love for and devotion to the people of Centre County is boundless,” Shadle said in a news release. “I have been blessed to serve in this office and want to continue in this work.”

A county native who was raised in Pleasant Gap, Shadle studied English and philosophy at Penn State. In addition to her work as executive director of the Centre County Democratic Committee, Shadle said she has “devoted much of her time to supporting and contributing to the local arts and various community organizing efforts around Centre County.”

Shadle currently lives in Bellefonte and also runs district outreach for state Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, in the 77th legislative district.

“This creative, dedicated, and proven public servitude will inherently inform the position, overseeing and ensuring a fair and just process for every resident of the county,” a statement announcing her candidacy said.

Primary Election Day in Pennsylvania is May 18.
