Woman Killed in Walker Township Crash

A 47-year-old Bellefonte woman died after a two-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon in Walker Township, according to state police at Rockview.

Sherry Thompson died at a hospital following the crash on Nittany Valley Drive/Route 64, which was the second fatal collision in the township in four days.

A 54-year-old Howard man was driving a Lincoln MKZ eastbound at 3:44 p.m. when he slowed to a stop to make a left turn onto Snydertown Road, police wrote in a release on Saturday night.

Thompson, who was driving a Dodge Dakota, rear-ended him then crossed into the opposite lane and struck a guard rail.

She was taken by helicopter to UPMC Williamsport, where a Lycoming County coroner pronounced her dead upon arrival.

The other driver was not injured.

Walker Township Fire Company, Pleasant Gap EMS and Mount Nittany Medical Center EMS also responded to the scene.

A GoFundMe has been established to assist with Thompson’s funeral expenses.

A 28-year-old Mingoville woman died after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a UTV on Tuesday afternoon on Route 64 in Walker Township near Marie Lane, about 5 miles west of Friday’s crash.
