A new yarn shop has opened in Pine Grove Mills, bringing knitting and crocheting supplies back to a space that served local fiber artists for more than two decades.

Woolly Heads recently opened at 235 E. Pine Grove Rd. in the former home of Stitch Your Art Out, which occupied the location for more than 20 years.

Owner Jennifer Crane, a longtime knitter, said she opened the ship to restore a local source of quality yarn and supplies.

“There is so much variety of yarn these days with fibers and makers from small to not so small mills both here and abroad,” Crane said. “It is an exciting time to be a lover of yarn and fiber.”

The store carries a variety of yarn, fiber, knitting supplies and a limited selection of fabrics.

“My hope is that with the support of fiber crafters in our area, the inventory will grow to offer lots of possibilities for all sorts of creative projects,” Crane said.

Crane said she plans to expand the shop’s offerings with classes and knit and crochet parties, encouraging people to learn new skills and gather with fellow crafters.

Woolly Heads is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
