6 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Centre County

Centre County reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing its total to 177 since the first was reported on March 20. 

According to Pennsylvania Department of Health data, Centre County nursing homes added five new cases among residents. Three nursing homes in the county have now reported a total of 28 resident and 14 employee cases. All six of the county’s COVID-19 deaths have been among nursing home residents. 

In the past two weeks, Centre County has added 23 new cases overall.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has had a total of 79,483 COVID-19 cases, with 362 new positives reported on Tuesday.

The health department also reported 33 new deaths attributed to the virus, bringing Pennsylvania’s total to 6,276.

An estimated 75 percent of patients with the virus — or about 59,612 — have recovered, according to DOH.

Among the Centre County’s total cases, 168 are confirmed and nine are probable.

16823 (Bellefonte): 41 

16801 (State College): 35

16803 (State College): 40 (+5)

16827 (Boalsburg): 10

16870 (Port Matilda): 9

16841 (Howard): 5 (+1)

16865 (Pennsylvania Furnace), 16828 (Centre Hall), 16866 (Philipsburg), 16844 (Julian), 16875 (Spring Mills), 16852 (Madisonburg) and 16872 (Rebersburg) each have 1-4 cases. Specific numbers are not provided for zip codes with fewer than five cases. 

Among bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 239 cases, Union has 84, Clinton has 64, Mifflin has 60, Clearfield has 57 and Blair has 55.

A total of 523,609 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 3,115 people in Centre County. Across the state,  813 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 173 requiring use of a ventilator as of noon on Tuesday.
